Most importantly, we wanted to shed light on the way the notions of continuity and change shape the way we think about global politics. To this end, we intended to illustrate that continuity and change can come in many ways and can also sometimes be hard to evaluate.

For this issue, we chose the topic “Conflict of Interests”. The year 2019 was marked by various conflicts and social movements all over the globe. In our articles, we tried to capture this and ask relevant questions such as: Are the different reactions to protest in Catalonia and Hong Kong a tale of double standards? Can we save the Amazon? And does NATO have a future?
